Book 1: Escape
Until the hot summer day when thirteen-year-old Dara Monahan discovers the forest planet BEYOND, she has no idea that her favorite oak tree is also a gateway to other worlds. That morning, she finds herself spirited away without warning to a cool and misty clearing deep within a grove of silver trees—a place more beautiful and mysterious than any she could ever have imagined.
But BEYOND is also a battleground. There, cruel men hunt and capture the animals while ghost-like Shadows prey on the living. When Dara discovers a baby animal caught in a hunter’s trap, she tries to free it but is chased away by a guard. Now one of the hunted, she barely escapes with her life.
Then, just as mysteriously, she finds herself back beside the ancient oak where her journey began. Has her adventure been a dream? No—she knows it was real. Now beautiful and dangerous BEYOND refuses to leave her in peace and the pleading eyes of the little captive haunt her. Despite her fears, Dara is determined to return—if only she could figure out how…
